On the possibility of achieving a historic compromise in Uzbekistan for its sustainable development

I have long been thinking about developing the most optimal model of statehood and development for Uzbekistan, at least for the next decade or so. This model is thought to be based on the analysis of the real situation, current trends and challenges. It should combine, on the one hand, the realism that would take into account the current condition of the Uzbek society, and on the other, ambition which is understood as setting goals that would reflect the experiences of most successful nations and relevant world trends. We are talking about the possibility of a historical compromise that would accept the extension of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s presidential powers for another term beyond his first two terms but in exchange for several preconditions, such as ensuring the rule of law, respect for civil and economic freedoms and human rights. Such a compromise is theoretically possible, but whether it will be accepted or not by the ruling regime is another matter.
